The Romantic Conn Cullin Recreational Trail
2022 – A video was created, by the development group and local resident Oisin Corcoran, to highlight what the potential walkway means to various members of the community. To view this video and hear what locals have to say about the trail click here
2019 – A study was carried out to investigate the feasibility of creating a walking trail from Knockmore village to Healy’s Hotel in Pontoon.
The Minister for Rural and Community Development, Mr. Michael Ring TD will officially launch the feasibility study on
Friday 29th November 2019 in the Knockmore-Rathduff Resource Centre
The event was hugely supported by politicians, councilors and the local community who enjoyed light refreshments and a chat afterwards.
Minister Ring committed to showing his support for this fantastic initiative.
The potential for this project is huge in terms of regenerating the Pontoon and Knockmore area. Not alone will it create a safe walkway or cycle way for young and old in the community but it will also attract tourists and visitors to our beautiful surrounds with the potential for job creation and more employment in the area. We’ve seen the positive impact the Greenway has had on the regeneration of the Newport, Mulranny and Achill – remote areas of Mayo – and we see that potential and positivity for our area.

The Knockmore Community Garden
In September 2020, approval was given by Mayo County Council to make way for a Community Garden in Knockmore. Funding has been secured for stage one of this project and work has already started in clearing the site and making way for the initial ground works. It is envisaged that this fantastic local amenity will be completed on a phased bases.
The Community Garden, once completed will be an excellent amenity for the local area giving both locals and visitors a serene place to visit, walk around and immerse yourself in the peaceful and beautiful surrounds of Knockmore. We are grateful to have had the specialist input from an architectural team who, following consultation with the Village Enhancement Group, have provide some suggested drawings for the project (see below).
